The Business Federation of Luxembourg FEDIL has awarded its Prize for Innovation for the second year in a row. This year 19 companies were in the running for this prize, more than in any previous year. Along with the 2500 euro first prize the jury gave out 5 other prizes of 1000 euro each.

The first prize this year goes to DuPont & Tejin Film. The joint venture has developed a plastic film in Luxembourg which can endure more heat than any existing film to date.  It can be successfully used on the condensers of hybrid cars, a market with great future potential. The project fulfills the two criteria on which the prize is based: Its innovative and cost effective

A prize for industrial innovation went to Arcelor-Mittal. The steel giant has developed a way to optimize the production of sheeting, bringing the cost of production down by 30 euro per ton.

The car supplier IEE developed an innovative camera originally intended for the automobile sector, which has now morphed into a security camera for the general market. In combination with a badge it recognizes whether that person is indeed authorized to enter a premise or not. This reduces the chances of tailgating for instance.

Another company that received a prize was the SME (Small Medium/Enterprise) Gilles Tooling GmbH which has developed a multi-functional gas pedal for motorcycles.

An award also went to Accumalux for their product design for battery holders.

Last but not least Onformonics received best the award for a best Innovative Start-Up company for their web based application project Compliance Management Solution.
