SC Magazine - Most Influential 2010

Today, saw the joint announcement by the (ISC)2 and SC Magazine of the publication of the list of the SC Most Influential 2010. The list which honours ten of the UK’s information security professionals that are recognised for reaching out to new audiences including small businesses and young people, promoting cross sector co-operation, and enhancing information security best practices.

I find it very interesting that four (4) of the top ten are in the payment cards industry; three (3) from Barclays and one (1) from Visa. Perhaps the recognition and inclusion in list is attributable to the efforts being made to increase awareness of the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) and the focus on merchants gaining compliance.

The list is shown below:

  1. Stephen Bonner, managing director, information risk management, Barclays
  2. Colin Whittaker, vice president payment system risk, Visa Europe
  3. Ray Stanton, global head of business continuity, security and governance, BT
  4. Neira Jones, head of payment security, global payment acceptance, Barclaycard
  5. Dr. Robert Nowill, director security consulting and information assurance, BT
  6. Dr. Robert Coles, CISO/head of risk and security, National Grid
  7. Martyn Croft, chief information officer, Salvation Army
  8. Paul Wood, MBE, group chief security officer/group business protection officer, Aviva
  9. Eamonn McCoy, senior information risk manager, Barclaycard Global Chief Operating Office
  10. Gerhard Knecht, head of global security services and compliance, Unisys

Onformonics recently presented alongside Neira at a Corporate IT Forum event titled “PCI DSS - Improving Internal and External Relationships”.
